Ever wonder why your résumé submissions to clients or hiring managers get ignored… even when the candidates are great?
I get it — I’ve been there. Lemme tell you what happened to me.
I had this fintech client who ignored every résumé I sent.
I submitted five candidates in total for a specific role along with their basic logistic details such as expected compensation, readiness for hybrid work, and visa status, but I got nothing back.”
No “yes,” no “no,” not even “we’ll review.”
Just silence.
I nudged him again, and that’s when he said:
“Nikita, I couldn't get time to review the résumés, I'm buried under project deliverables. I need a little more time to go through them.”
And the moment he said that, I told him:
“What if I quickly tell you why each résumé is worth considering — just the highlights. Will that help?”
He goes,
“Yeah, that would be perfect.”
So I asked for a day. Why? Frankly, I didn't want to lose those strong candidates to competition.
And the very next morning, I resent those same résumés but this time, I added two lines right on top of each one.
Line 1: Why the candidate is worth their time.
Line 2: What problem they can solve right away.
Something like this:
Senior Data Engineer — built a real-time fraud detection system that reduced false declines by 27%.
Can help fix your payment delay issue.
Short, clear, and instantly tells the manager why this person matters.
And guess what?
He replied in eleven minutes.
Scheduled four interviews.
We closed the role in nine days.
That's when I realized: most hiring managers aren't ignoring your candidates. There might be some, but mostly?
They're just overloaded. Reading full résumés is extra work... and they simply don't have the bandwidth.
So make it easy for them.
