Tried sourcing on Instagram or LinkedIn and found nothing useful?
Welcome to recruiting.
Sourcing is iteration—not perfection.
I was hiring an AWS DevOps engineer for a remote role in the U.S.
Started with Google site search on LinkedIn and Instagram—tons of noise, outdated bios, zero traction.
Switched to GitHub—checked repos tagged with Terraform and AWS. Better, but most were outside the U.S.
Then Stack Overflow—great signal, but low response rate.
Finally, landed on Reddit.
Found an AWS cert thread in r/devops, messaged 3 people—and boom, got a qualified lead who joined interviews.”
Sourcing isn’t about nailing it on the first try.
It’s about trying, tweaking, and trying again
—until you find the right fit.
Happy Sourcing!
